Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), officially known as “Makedonia Airport”, is the only aviation hub serving the area of Thessaloniki, the second biggest Greek city. The airport is also known as SKG Airport, whereas its former name was Mikra Airport. It is located close to the city center, at a 13-km/8-mile distance from the heart of Thessaloniki. It is the third busiest airport in the country and, since 2015, it has passed into the hands of Fraport Greece. Fraport has refurbished and brought new life to Makedonia Airport. Thessaloniki Airport has two terminal buildings, inter-connected via a footbridge. Both terminals serve domestic and international flights.

SKG’s old airport terminal is a 3-level building. The ground floor hosts the Arrivals -international and domestic- while the second floor is the Departures level. On the second level, passengers will also find a small shopping area as well as some eating and drinking options. The top floor is solely dedicated to restaurants and bars and it houses two passenger lounges.

The new terminal (T2) has 28 check-in spots and 12 gates. Many shopping and dining facilities are also to be found here, as well as a duty-free area.
